DataBank Expands ATL1, Opening Data Hall #3

Opened less than a year ago, ATL1, DataBank’s start-of-the-art facility in downtown Atlanta is already expanding with the opening of data hall #3 which brings the facility’s total usable space to 36,000 square feet.

Each ATL1 data hall provides approximately 12,000 sq. ft of secure raised floor and is capable of delivering 1.7MW of primary and secondary power. With generators and UPS installed, Data Hall #3 is now fully commissioned and ready to meet growing demand in the Atlanta marketplace, and that’s good news because data hall# 2 was quickly filled by notable technology companies who immediately recognized the benefits of locating their workloads in ATL1.

The facility was built to meet the region’s burgeoning high-performance computing needs, and serves as the home of both Georgia Tech’s High-Performance Computing Center (HPCC) as well as the Southern Crossroads Internet2 network node, providing high-speed, high bandwidth connectivity to research and education sites throughout the region and across the nation.

ATL1 is part of the  CODA  development, a 645,000 square foot mixed-use office complex in downtown Atlanta’s “Tech Square” that was developed with the goal of creating a vibrant tech ecosystem that provides the adjacent community with direct access to fiber networks, proprietary datasets, and world-class technical expertise.

In addition to supporting public-private initiatives, ATL1 is ideally positioned to serve the city’s fast-growing business community. Atlanta is already home to more F500 headquarters than Dallas and is the fifth-largest IT employment cluster, housing 13,000+ tech companies in the area.

ATL1 provides a convenient downtown location that is easily accessible and part of a vibrant technology ecosystem. It delivers the enterprise-grade data center attributes that the Atlanta community needs, including carrier and network neutrality with diverse points of entry, private custom suites, cages and cabinets, on-site 24/7 security and support, and full compliance with SSAE-18 SOC1/2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and GDPR Privacy Shield standards.
